Stress has met it's match!
The holiday season will be here before you know it, and for many that equates to mega STRESS. Like fat, stress accumulates in the body, unlike fat, you can’t see it. The scale helps us to see how much weight we’ve gained, so we can address it. Stress and high blood pressure are both silent killers. Biofeedback measures stressors in the body so we can effectively address them.
Stress can be acute or cumulative and has the capacity to undermine our ability to function properly. The more effectively we respond to stress and minimize the anxiety it produces, the more resilient we’ll be.
Accumulated stress manifests in the physical body as headaches, sweatiness, back pain, fatigue, insomnia, indigestion, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and either sleeping too much, or too little.
On a spiritual level it makes one feel empty, lack compassion, suffer a loss of beliefs and sense of meaning.
Stressed out behaviors are: substance abuse, risk taking, procrastination, eating problems, and anti-social behavior. It can also manifest as perfectionism, forgetfulness, paranoia, poor concentration, boredom, and poor teamwork.
Emotionally stress can create depression, anger, irritability, increased sensitivity, mood swings, and fear. Stress can create relationship issues, loneliness, intolerance, and withdrawal.
There are two types of stress coping strategies. One is avoidance and involves activities such as emotional withdrawal and addictive behavior. These behaviors aim to create distance from the stress.
Another way of coping with stress is to TAKE ACTION, by addressing the way we respond to stress or by changing the nature of the stress.
